The equity share of the total clean energy portfolio is 85 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-norfund-key-figures alignfull alternative-style\"><div class=\"block-inner\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-item\" data-key=\"0\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-alt-style\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number\">1,647<\/div><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-unit\">MNOK<\/div><\/div><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-bar\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-bar-progress\" data-number=\"100\"><\/div><\/div><p class=\"norfund-key-figure-text\">committed in 2020<\/p><\/div><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-item\" data-key=\"1\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-alt-style\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number\">12,865<\/div><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-unit\">MNOK<\/div><\/div><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-bar\"><div class=\"norfund-key-figure-number-bar-progress\" data-number=\"100\"><\/div><\/div><p class=\"norfund-key-figure-text\">committed in total CE portfolio<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-green-light-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"pdf-page-break\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"is-style-line wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-impact-2020\">Impact 2020<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-6\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"is-style-default wp-block-heading\">1,236 MW increased energy supply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, Norfund financed 1,236 MW of new electricity generation capacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total capacity in our portfolio was 6,139 MW, of which 4,528 MW is renewable and 1,047 MW is under construction. The power plants produced a total of 17.5 TWh of electricity, an amount equivalent to the combined annual electricity consumption of Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-8\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"is-style-default wp-block-heading\">659 MW of new capacity from renewable sources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, 56 per cent of the new capacity financed, 659 MW,  was renewable. A total of 4,781 MW of the capacity in our portfolio is from renewable sources<a>. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, the renewable power plants in our current portfolio have contributed to avoiding an estimated 5.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2020.  This has been calculated using the harmonized IFI approach: <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/sites\/default\/files\/resource\/Renewable%20Energy_GHG%20accounting%20approach.pdf\">'GHG Accounting for Grid Connected Renewable Energy projects'.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-increased-access-to-energy\">Increased access to energy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1,853,000 new households were provided with access to &nbsp;electricity through mini-grid solutions or solar home systems in 2020. This record high figure is mainly due to the performance of our funds. Additionally, 2 million units of smaller &nbsp;solar-powered solutions such as lanterns were sold to households in 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reports.norfund.no\/annualreport-2020\/increased-energy-access-and-supply\/\"><strong>More about the impact from Norfund's clean energy investments.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-investing-in-a-variety-of-energy-solutions\">Investing in a variety of energy solutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The majority of our investments in this investment area are in utility-scale, grid-connected power plants.
